Both sides promise to close pending issues; however, the Attorney General of Mexico City, Alejandro Gertz Manero, is not comfortable with the new direction of events. Discussions on judicial reform among the coordinators started in January, although initially, they prioritized the 2025 Budget.
The PAN coordinator, Carlos de la Fuente, has publicly stated that a meeting of coordinators is necessary to discuss how to advance in the short term, seeking to establish some type of ballots or mechanisms that allow not only the participation of the winners but also the best losers.
The opposition is not satisfied with the idea of standardizing the judicial reform as it is, so they are considering the possibility of including ballots with "best losers" and other methods to promote profiles in a contest where Morena has an advantage due to its ability for territorial mobilization.
Miguel Flores, coordinator of the local deputies of Movimiento Ciudadano, has met with the leaders of the PAN and PRI benches to address the state judicial reform of Nuevo León, which must be approved before March 14 to be valid in the entity. Subsequently, Flores hopes to design a strategy that distributes judicial positions between MC and the opposition, considering Morena to some extent.
The business community has given its approval to this maneuver by the coordinator, as they do not want a local scheme too influenced by Andrés Manuel López Obrador's reform. These high-level agreements are only the first step toward the true interest of coordinator Miguel Flores: the construction of an electoral project for 2027, amid open investigation files both locally and federally, which include amparos, frozen accounts, and arrest warrants from local courts to the Attorney General's Office. These agreements represent remnants of a war that recently dominated the local scene.
